Abstract

Pollution of surface water bodies is increasing, negatively affecting the population. The lack of a purification system in the Arunta Pools generates a problem by infiltrating groundwater in the district of Gregorio Albarracín Lanchipa in Tacna - Peru, leading to the implementation of solutions such as evaluating the application of natural coagulants obtained from papaya seeds and pitahaya leaves. in the removal of turbidity from wastewater. Water samples were taken following the national protocol and coagulants were prepared by washing, chopping, drying, grinding and sieving. The experimental design was a DCA, using doses of 5 gr/L, 10 gr/L and 15 gr/L, analyzing a total of 18 units. After the mixture rested for 30 minutes, laboratory analyzes were carried out with multiparameter equipment. The results of the ANOVA showed that the papaya seeds reached 88.51% in turbidity removal, while the pitahaya stalk reached 85.85%. Both coagulants did not significantly alter the pH. In conclusion, papaya is a more efficient natural coagulant than dragon fruit.
