Abstract

Educational quality in the university system constitutes one of the pillars of scientific research. Scientific research plays a fundamental role due to its strategic nature given its importance in the search for answers and solutions established by science and society; it is recognized as the basis for progress and improvement of health services, and is related to the economic and social development of a country. The university, through its research processes, undoubtedly has a responsibility to society as a whole, since it is required to produce, among other things, socially valid scientific knowledge capable of generating creative solutions in the multiple areas of its development. In this sense, the generation of new knowledge through research and innovation make up the productive social and scientific-technological infrastructure of Higher Education Institutions, with scientific and technical contributions for the human, social and economic development of its inhabitants. The university is the most appropriate place to promote scientific activity, since it enables the faculty to keep in touch with the international flow of knowledge, through the processes of internationalization. In summary, scientific and technical activities within universities seek to promote the development of science and innovation for social development and consist of three components: teaching and scientific and technical training.
